about

Originally composed for a NASA competition where the winning song would be played on the NASA Space Station, the aim with this song was the captured the feeling of being in space while having a disco/techno groove behind it. “Space Disco Epic” was created in Ableton Live in 2009 as a Mass Movement track and written in collaboration with my musical partner at the time Kirsty Krampf.
I had originally record a rhythm guitar part for the final section of song but when I came to mixing it three weeks ago I decided to ditch as one of synths created a similar rhythmical feel. My original shaker part made it as did the great Korg Monotron part which can be heard in the second section of the track.
I’m very proud of this track and think it combines some great sounds and effect, with a sense of space and multi layered feel resulting in a rich and hypnotic experience. I could see it providing a soundtrack to a sci-fi film or lighting up a dance floor.
